I'm doing an informative paper in english class. It is a "Zombie Survival Handbook". I need some information? Well... Do zombies run or walk? Or should I just say that over time with all the cases of zombie outbreaks that zombies have changed significantly (talking about how like in films they have gone from the shufflers to the screaming ones who runs faster than you and make you feel like oh-sh*t-its-running-after-me!) I'm going to basically be talking about how Zombies have become popularized, changed, etc. Any other info would help too.
any one know a good survival handbook? I would not say by any means that im a survival expert, but I do have some knowledge. I love camping, hiking, and anything to do with the outdoors. I also have a four year old daughter that is starting to like camping. My wife hates it, but she is trying really hard to like it. I was wondering if anyone knows of any books that can make camping more fun for children? Also I was wondering if anyone knows of any exclusive, all inclusive survival handbooks? A lot of the books that I have looked at tell you lots of techniques but not how to apply them in a survival situation.

aluminum foil as survival kit component? i know that foil can be used to boil water or cook, and i have in my survival kit. i just want to know if its really safe to boil water or cook in it. in the SAS survival handbook, it doesn't state that you should put foil in a survival kit. so i was just wondering...is it hazardous to you health if you boil water in aluminum foil over a fire?

Confused about the clean water crisis? I saw this commercial for a charity and it said 1.1 billion people don't have access to clean water. What I don't understand is why simple purification methods aren't used. In survival handbooks, they always tell you how to filter water using rocks or cloth, about boiling it for purification, and about those purification tablets. These methods seem rather cheap and easy to use. Why aren't charities, or even impoverished villages themselves, using these methods to fix the crisis?
I don't wanna get a job! can I live out in the wilderness and fend for myself? Can I just go live in the wilderness with a survival handbook and go around eating food from nature and living in the mountains? Can I just live amongst the animals and do what I need to do to survive? if in ancient times people could do this, then so can i right? Exactly, Soul06 it's better to live in nature than to continue living a boring repetitive life in society where nothing interesting happens
Only for people who DEFINITELY know what they are talking about.? I would like to know if this would work. I read it in a Survival Handbook. It is only if you can not possibly get to a hospital. Don't worry nobody is bleeding, I just would like to know. "Some data indicates that pure granular sugar poured into a penetrating wound can decrease bleeding, promote clotting, and discourage bacteria. You are not likely to see it used in your local emergency department, but it might be worth consideration if your circumstances are dire."
Can anyone recommend a good maid of honor survival guide? My sister has asked me to be the maid of honor for her wedding but as I'm only 16 and have never even stood up in a wedding, I'm feeling a little intimidated by the role. I've searched online for some guides to being the maid of honor, but could only really find a few handbooks for bridesmaids. Any recommendations would be appreciated :)
what are some ideas for a survival book about a deserted island? i have to do a handbook about the lord of the flies but i don'tt know what to call it. this is what we have to do: Objective: To write a survival manual that reflects knowledge of Lord of the Flies and exhibits both creative and critical thinking skills. Project Description: After reading the text, students will create a survival manual in book form, which describes essentials of survival on the island depicted in Lord of the Flies. The manual should include the following elements: a)A cover page with an original title, eye-catching cover art, and your name. (Hint: Look at a book cover for layout ideas.) b)A table of contents listing all required chapters and the page on which each chapter begins. (The following should be used as chapter titles: Map of the Island; People; Food and Shelter; Dangers; and Escape Plan.) c)All required chapters: •Map of the Island – This map should show all points of interest on the island important to the novel. These points of interest should be clearly labeled. •People – All important characters should be identified and described with respect to both their physical appearance as well as their personality traits. •Food and Shelter – Advise the reader on how to obtain food and shelter. Identify and describe all sources of food and shelter on the island. •Dangers – All significant dangers (physical as well as psychological) should be identified and explained. In addition, you should give the readers insight into how to survive these dangers. •Escape Plan – Provide your best advice on how to escape from the island. I dont know what to call it!
Can somebody tell me the name of this book? A long time ago, my friend got a book that was distributed to soldiers of a country during a war. Sadly, I do not know the country, nor do I know the war. The book I'm referring to was a handbook explaining how to survive in the wild, escape from prison, jump over razor wire, and other survival info. He no longer has the book, and he forgot the name too. Does anybody know the name of that book, or a book like it?

What book on the US army should I get? I'm looking for a book that tells me what stuff they learn when they go through training, like a handbook. I just bought the "U.S. Army Survival Handbook" (the one they issue to the soldiers, but I realized that even though I will need to know that information, every soldier isnt going to be put in that situation. I want a book to know what the average soldier is going to be doing and what stuff he/she does in training. Any ideas? I really dont want a novel bytheway. I'd prefer a handbook
Cub Scout (Webelos) Leader Gift? Our 10 year old son is about to receive his Arrow of Light award, and he was thinking that he wanted to get his leader a gift. I want the gift to be personal, unique, useful, and thoughtful. I don't want to do pictures (like a frame, scrapbook, etc.), or a standard desktop paperweight, or Webelos Coin.... We have one boy who is getting him a copy of an Army survival handbook, which is very neat. We can't get him a knife, camping item etc because he is very much into the outdoors, and has an abundance of supplies. I'm completely drawing a blank on this one, please help! Sorry, I should have said that he is already recieving a photo collage. Any other ideas?

Is this a good deal? Victoria Jackson make-up? So I went into the shopping centre today and there was a shop selling Victora Jackson make-up and the woman wanted me to buy the make-up for £30 on special offer. They said they aren't selling the make-up properly over here (the UK), they're only selling it on special offer. This is what I got for £30: Shimmer Powder Brush- (baby doll pink) The Survival Kit- 12 piece set lip gloss- Pocket palette and a little handbook which tells you loads of make-up tips. She said together they were worth £250 but I've never heard of her make-up before so was this a good deal? Or was I totally ripped off? I think I'll give it to my mum for christmas either way. :) Ps: £30 is about $45.25.
Will Gore's Show Be The Biggest On Earth? Notice where it's being held in communist China! Gore show is set to be biggest on earth Gore show is set to be biggest on earth China will broadcast Live Earth, giving the climate change concerts an audience of 2 billion. Will that silence the sceptics? David Smith reports Sunday July 1, 2007 The Observer Nowhere, perhaps, will be more important than Shanghai. One of eight cities hosting Live Earth concerts for Al Gore's crusade against climate change on Saturday, it will help deliver a vast audience across China. And with the world's most populous country on board, organisers believe they can reach 2 billion people and eclipse even Live8 as the biggest global media event of all time. It will begin at 1.10am British Summer Time in Sydney, Australia, then roll around the globe with concerts in Tokyo, Johannesburg, Shanghai, Hamburg, London's Wembley stadium, New York and finally, at 8pm, Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana beach. A special performance at the British Antarctic Survey Station in Antarctica will ensure all seven continents are included. There will be saturation coverage from TV, radio, the internet and at more than 6,000 parties in 119 countries. Critics have argued the 24-hour spectacular - featuring more than 150 acts including Madonna, Lily Allen, Genesis, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Black Eyed Peas and Jack Johnson - will do more for the stars' careers than raising awareness of climate change. But Gore will use it to urge people to sign a seven-point pledge calling on governments to agree, within two years, an international treaty that cuts global warming pollution by 90 per cent in developed countries and by more than half worldwide. It also asks people to cut their own pollution, make their homes, businesses, schools and transport more energy efficient, and plant new trees and preserve forests. With its rapid economic growth and soaring carbon emissions, China is regarded as a crucial target for this message. Kevin Wall, the executive producer of Live Earth, has succeeded where he did not two years ago as a co-organiser of Live8, the centrepiece of the Make Poverty History campaign. 'We're on Chinese TV with 800 million people, ' he told The Observer. 'People often think on a parochial basis, so it's vital to be there. We've got to talk and make the whole world listen.' Live Earth China, on the steps of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, will feature popular national singers as well as Britain's Sarah Brightman, and be broadcast across the country by the Shanghai Media Group. Steve Howard, chief executive of The Climate Group, a London-based campaign organisation supporting Live Earth, said: 'The US and China are responsible for half the world's carbon emissions. Live Earth will get huge attention in both. The biggest issue on the planet ever requires the biggest media event ever.' The seed was planted less than two years ago at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California, when Wall, a veteran concert producer, attended a slide show about global warming presented by Gore, as featured in the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth 'Over the course of the 90 minutes my wife and I were very emotionally moved by the climate crisis,' said Wall, 54, a father of three. 'We understood for the first time it was about us, our children and our children's children. This is not just a movie - it's happening.' Wall met the former US vice-president and discussed taking the message to as many people as possible: 'After Live8 I said never again, but I got the call from Al Gore, the global rock star on this issue. What I can do on the day is deliver 2 billion pairs of eyeballs.' On Saturday Gore will be at the Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, near New York City, where the Police, Smashing Pumpkins, Alicia Keys and others will perform. 'We don't want him getting on planes burning carbon,' Wall acknowledged. Profits from Live Earth will go to Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection. But the entire event has been questioned by Bob Geldof, organiser of Live Aid and Live8. In May he said: 'I hope they're a success. But why is he [Gore] actually organising them? To make us aware of the greenhouse effect? Everybody's known about that for years. We are all fucking conscious of global warming.' Sceptics have also pointed to the amount of electricity used to power the speakers and lights, and the fuel spent on ferrying musicians and their equipment to the venues by plane and lorry. Wall said: 'We are trying to minimise the carbon as much as possible. Most artists are coming from nearby areas. Madonna, for example, lives in London and will be performing at Wembley.' He added: 'There are 3,000 concerts a year. We're doing 10, but touching 2 billion people about what I think is the biggest issue that's ever faced humanity.' Steve Howard of the environmental charity Climate Group said: 'Dealing with climate change doesn't mean we have got to stop live performances or call for a moratorium on football matches. There are positive choices for people to make. If we get this right, in 10 to 15 years time every product will be a green product. 'Live Earth is a big step in the right direction.' Howard added. 'Arnold Schwarzenegger put it well when he said in Washington DC: "We need to make the environment cool and sexy."' Organisers deny that Live Earth will be a one-off that could be soon forgotten. They have produced more than 60 short films, 30 public service announcements featuring stars such as Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz, and a book, The Live Earth Global Warming Survival Handbook by David de Rothschild, that will be published in Britain this week. http://observer.guardian.co.uk/world/story/0,,2115785,00.html
