is the Remington 700 a good hog hunting rifle? not for close in action. ill just use my shotgun. but if you think this is a good hog hunting rifle why? and what model(sps, vtr, vls). if you dont think this is a good hog hunting gun than what is?
Can Americans bring guns to Canada? For my senior trip me and two friends are planning on backpacking across Canada. We plan on starting at the West coast and hiking to the East coast. We were wondering if we could bring our guns to hunt with. The guns we were planning on bringing are a Remington Model 700 Hunting Rifle, an AR-15 Sporting Rifle, and a 12 guage shotgun. Once again these are purely for hunting and we have trigger locks for all three.
Are their any hunting rifles that are made entirely in the US? I know their are tons of american gun companies, but how many of them make their guns here? I hear remington has done some outsourcing to turkey, weatherbys are made in japan along with some Browning's, winchesters are made in europe and japan. I think that rugers are the only ones left(I hope I am wrong), do you know of any others?
What gun brand has the best deer hunting rifles? browning, remington, winchester, etc
Would a Sako .243 be a good hog hunting gun? what about a Remington .270? What would you reccomend? I have a ranch in Texas and we go hog hunting a lot but me and my dad were looking at our own rifle instead of borrowing my uncles every time. So what should we get?
I'm trying to choose between some remington rifles. I'm stuck between the 700 ltr, 700 pss, and the m24. Help!? The rifle I choose will be used to make a remington usr package. I will use the gun for hunting, but mostly target practice, and it will be in .308. I'm especially looking for amazing accuracy, but the rifle can't be too heavy. I've talked to some people from gun shops, and two people said they own ltr's and that have shot through the same hole usually, but then I hear that the pss, is even more accurate, and then I read that the M24 is also great. I need help, please!
What do you recommend for a hunting rifle? hi im 14 years old i live on a cattle ranch in canada. i have began hunting. i have 2 .22's and a 12 gauge shotgun. what would you recomend as a high powered hunting rifle? i have narrowed it down to two guns that i can have thru many hour of research. what gun should it be the remington 7mm magnum or a 30-06 of some sort? well yes i miseed a few key points. i already have a trusty 30-30. and my needs for a riffle are mainly for shiping pests from 300yds+. and for defence from local pests (in september a very close friend of mine was killed by a bear a mile from my house. and i have found cougar and bear tracks within 1000 feet of my house.
My Cousin wants to go Mountain Lion hunting. What caliber gun does he need to take for the hunt? My cousin is planning a Mountain Lion Hunting trip. He has a guy with a pack of dogs trained for hunting lions, taking him. He's not sure what caliber gun he needs for the hunt. The guns he has are.... Remington and Marlin 22lr (We both agree that these guns would never do on a trip like this.) Smith & Wesson .40 semi-auto handgun. (He's thinking of taking this gun only as a back up.) Ruger Hawkeye .204 bolt action rifle with a Leupold scope. Remington 710 .300 Win. Mag. with 3-9x40 Bushnell scope. Benelli Nova 12 gauge pump shotgun. Which one of these guns would do for his trip? Or does he need another caliber gun for the hunt? James S : You have been reported, don't insult me or anyone else. By the way, its NOT illegal to hunt moutiain lions. Get your facts straight before you answer a question. I should state that we live in Nevada, Where it is LEGAL to hunt mountain lions. Forgot to mention, my cousin also has a Winchester Model 94 Ranger .30-30 lever action.
Has anyone used the Remington R 15 for Hunting Deer? I have a Remington R 15 .223 I was going to take it out deer hunting this year because its accurate as hell, and a great rifle. I live in Texas, and use to work in a gun store and sold many .223 for deer hunting , So I would only like to hear from the people that deer hunt with a .223. Thank you!
Hunting Rifle Delivery? hello everyone I'm looking for hunting rifles such as Ruger Mini-Thirty 7.62x39mm, or Remington SPR18 7,62X39mm, or Rossi R762MB, or CZ527 7,62x39mm, so my question is: is there any company which is dealing with international/worldwide delivery? actually i'm looking for nice hunting gun in 7.62x39 caliber, is there any other guns except this guns? thank you! i'm from Mongolia, and here is no any hunting rifle shop.. just interested is there any company which may deliver it to Mongolia. and i can assure you that there is no prohibitions to have hunting gun in Mongolia, just when i recieve the gun we have to register it in police
Would you rather have a Remington or Savage rifle? I am looking at the Remington 700 and Savage 110/111 rifles. I have about $500 to spend. This will be a hunting rifle. The Remington SPS is supposed to have a great feeling action, but I don't think it looks as nice as the Savage. (I am not a huge fan of syn stocks and I can not afford Rem 700 hardwood guns...) The Savage looks great with a hardwood stock, but how will it perform? (Will that accu-trigger hold up in the feild?) Also the 110 savage comes with a crappy scope, so I will need to buy a new one anyway. I am just really torn. Should I forget about looks and go with the Remington 700 SPS or should I get the Savage? I am so confused.
what kind of guns can fire the 35 Remington cartridge ? me and a buddy are going hunting soon and he only has one rifle and one kind of ammo i have another rifle that is a 30 30 and i was wondering if it would fire out of that anybody know?
Hunting rifles. Which one and what do you think.? I am getting ready for this year and next years fall hunting season. This year i have 1 white tail tag, 2 mule deer tags, and 1 bull moose tag. Next year i have a reservation for 2 caribou tags and i put my name in a draw for the bull moose tag. And a couple of coyote hunts both years. My dad is letting me get a couple of guns, i already own the 22. lr and a 12 gauge shotgun. I was thinking of getting the 22-250 remington model 700. for the coyote. 270 win, or a 270wsm in the Tikka T3 Hunter or the Browning A-Bolt for the deer and a 30-378 weatherby mag. for the moose, im trying to get a bear tag too. I know this is long sorry, but what do you think i should get? what do you think about my models? and what do you think about the calibres i picked?
Which would be an all around better hunting rifle? I am looking to get a 30.06 and I am don't know that much about rifles. I was looking at the Remington 700, and a Savage. I want something that doesn't cost a fortune and still a reliable gun. Any advice or comparison on the two?
2010 Hunting Rifles Coming Out? I'm 17. When I turn 18 I am gonna buy my own. My birthday is January 12. When I finish all the courses and everything I will have a couple grand to spend on gun(s). I have lots of money.I am gonna go to Newfoundland (family) for a while to hunt deer-moose stuff like that. I mainly enjoy hunting for eating and finishing the animal like what we've done for thousands of years. When i am ready to buy a rifle. WIll their be new ones out like Remington, Savage... some of the top name ones? Or should I browse for the ones on their websites or wait?
Trying to find site to compare hunting rifles. 30-06,30-30,7mm,308,etc. Price, velocity, handling, etc.? Hunting deer and elk. Why choose clip over lever action or vice versa? Why use different bullet for deer than elk? Use a gun with more velocity 3000 ft/sec. versus 2200 ft/sec.? or use 2200 over the 3000? I would like to compare the different guns, prices, ammo, & info but cannot find a site that covers all these things on the same site. And which make to use. Remington, Smith & Wesson, Browning, Ruger, Winchester, etc. Any help would be appreciated.
A question about hunting rifles? I have a Remington in .308 caliber and will be looking for another soon. My question is should I buy a rifle in 30-06 caliber. I know the 308 and the 30-06 are very close with the 30-06 doing better at long range. I also intend to get one in .243 but am curious about the 30-06. What do you all think? A wast of money or good buy? I do have some knowledge about guns but there are people here who outclass me by a long shot. Thanks for any help.
I just barely started being interested in hunting what are some good rifles to start with? I was thinking about the remington 770 oh and just a side question here my girlfriend is highly against me buying a gun whats a good way to convince her its safe to have one
Good hunting air rifle? My brother in law got suckered into buying a Remington BB gun/pellet gun that is inaccurate as all get out and mostly plastic. I can shoot circles around him with an old .22 single shot pellet gun. Is there a decent hunting pellet gun I could buy him to knock back the rabbit population with? I have never bought a new air rifle. The old ones I use were inherited and are at least 40 years old. I have taken a couple hundred or more rabbits with that .22 single shot pellet gun. It can punch a hole in roof tin at 30 yards so it has the power to kill a rabbit dead. Just to head off a couple comments.
Is a remington 700 cambered for 30-06 the gun for me? Boar, deer, elk, is this an all around good gun? I live in Ohio where you cant hunt deer with a rifle,(This is fine with me by the way) but here is my situation. There is a lot of wild boar that I could hunt and we are planning to go caribu and mule deer hunting next year. I am a big beliver of the right gun for the right game but I don't need more than one large rifle since 99% of my hunting is done with shotguns and varmit rifles. I don't know a lot about large rifles but I was told that the Remington 700 in 30-06 will work game from boar to elk. Anyone agree or disagree? Anyone have a better suggestion?
what is the best hunting rifle for me? i am 12 years old and it is my first time going hunting i will be huntin for deer.it would be good if the rifle had the same or less recoil as a 12 gauge slug gun.i want either a remington or a ruger for under 600.00 and a wood stock
Buying some new rifles for hunting.? I have been hunting coyote, white-tail, mule, moose, elk and bear for about 3 years now with my dad. And now i want to get my own gun and i dont know what to get. I was thinking of getting a 22-250 remington model 700 sps stainless for the coyote, but i dont know what kind of scope to get. I was thinking of getting a 270. win or a 270. wsm for white-tail, mule, caribou, big horned sheep, in either the Tikka T3 Hunter or the Browning A-Bolt Medallion with a 3x-9x, 40mm scope. And a 30-378 weatherby mag. for the elk, moose, black and brown bear with a 3x-9x, 40mm scope. If you have any other suggestions for the rifles and scopes please add them. Which one should i get the 270. win or the 270. wsm and in what model? I already have a 2 12 gauge shotguns and 1 22.
What's a good model rifle and caliber for deer hunting? I'm not gonna lie, I'm not an experienced hunter and don't know much about guns. I'm looking for a rifle that would be suitable for hunting in South Arkansas (not much big game) but could be used for big game if needed. I've done a little looking and am noticing the Browning A-Bolt Medallion, Remington Model 700, and Weatherby Mark V. I'm not limited to only these models, am open for suggestions.
What calibers are good for whitetail deer hunting? I am looking for a semi auto hunting rifle, i have been looking around and i liked the model r-25, by remington. The gun comes in three calibers: 243 Win 7mm-08 Remington 308 Win I would like to know which cailber is best for hunting whitetail deer. I would also like to know if this is a good begginer semi auto hunting rifle. If not could you please reccomend some that look like r-25 or r-15, i do not want the wooden stock type guns.
What kind of ammo to use in a Remington 870 Express Magnum Shotgun? I got a remington 870 express magnum shotgun with the shorter barrel on it for deer hunting. How do I determine if it is rifled or not? Are they usually rifled. I opened chamber and looked down barrel and it looks pretty smooth but I am not sure. Tell me if I am correct. If gun is rifled then you want sabot slugs. If gun is smooth bore than you want rifled slugs. thanks for helping me out folks.
20 ga vs 12 ga for slug guns? I am looking to purchase a slug gun with a rifled barrel for hunting whitetail deer this upcoming season. At this point I am going to get a Remington pump gun and mount a holographic sight on it, because all of my shooting comes up quick and fast. Anyone prefer one gauge over the other for what I am using it for? I am leaning toward the 12 ga, but if the 20 ga can do the job I would consider doing it. I have no problem handling the recoil from either weapon, I am a big farm boy Marine. I have several 12 gauges already and love them over a 20ga, someone told me 20ga will be more accurate at longer ranges. Any truth to that?
What type of scope mount does a 552 speedmaster has? I am new to guns and i own a Remington speed-master 552 rifle.I bought a scope for it, NCSTAR 4X20 HUNTING SCOPE HUNT 22 RIFLE DOVETAIL but it doesn't quite fit. What type is it? dovetail weaver.I have no idea...
where to buy hunting rifle? I want to get my husband a Remington 870 pump (on the advice of my brother who hunts)...I am trying to get him set up with all the hunting gear he needs, as he does not have any right now. #1- is this a good gun, in your opinion? #2- where would i buy it? we have a gun shop where i live, but i was going to try to price hunt...is there a specific store i should shop at? i know walmart sells guns...anywhere else?

Are Sako rifles high end rifles? I am looking to get my first hunting rifle in 30-06 with a Leupold 3x9 scope. I have 3 brands narrowed down to Winchester, Remington, & Ruger. I did see a rifle by the brand of Sako with a walnut finish that was used for $750 with a Leupold scope, due to a going out of business sale. The guy behind the gun counter told me it was a very high end rifle in tip top shape and at great price that will hold it's value and that it was a collector's. He also said Sako's go for $1000 plus. Fellow hunter's I know say it's an off brand and they suck. Other's say they haven't heard of them. What's the truth about Sako? Awesome rifle or not so great off-brand? I personally thought the rifle looked pretty damn nice, although I am a rookie to rifles and hunting. Should I stay with my first 3 brand choices or consider a Sako, new or used that's on sale? This Sako was a 30-06 and I was told it was in great condition and any seasoned hunter would be very impressed with this particular rifle.
Your varmint hunting rifle? Me and my friend are going out to buy new varmint rifles cause we both do alot of coyote hunting. I have always used my dads and same with him and now want our own. I was thinkin on a remington model 700 sps stainless 22-250 and he was looking at a browning a-bolt 223 i would like to hear what you got? your gun, your ammo, your scope?
Good beginners hunting rifle? Hi, everyone I'm completely new to hunting. I'm hoping to go with my dad hunting in a few months I am looking into buying a nice beginners rifle that doesn't choke my wallet but..gets the job done. These are the guns I have been suggested and by whom they were suggested: Remington 700 (Gander employee), Savage arms 270(My dad), and a winchester 70(only want it cause carlos hathcock used it). And also some information on a scope would be appreciated to if that's possible. I will be hunting in georgia we will probably be hunting deer and boar possibly not sure...he also said that there's some bears up there. Thanks! 1- What are you gonna be hunting?Deer most likely 2- What's the terrain like?not sure I think its flat he said 3- What's the elevation you'll be hunting from? no clue 4- How tall are you?5'11-6'0 5- How old are you?15 6- What guns have you shot before?my dads savage arm's 270 when I was 12 7- What state do you live in?Florida Did some math and I'm getting 1740$ from my job with the hours I will be working best gun of the ones I mentioned in that price range that's including scope. Airsoft Rifle Look-a-Like? Is there an airsoft gun that looks like a wood stock hunting rifle. like a remington 700 BDL? I really like that gun for hunting and I would like to use something like it with my airsoft team too. Thanks a lot :)
In .243 caliber what is the best deer hunting rifle for me? Which is better? Ruger Model 77 CR MK II Compact, or Ruger KM77 Ultra Light, or Tikka T3 Lite, or Remington Model Seven? I am 5'2" tall and 130 Lbs. so I want to stay with a light caliber like the .243 Any suggestions which is the best gun?
Remington 700 PSS vs Winchester 70 Stealth? I am new to guns and would like to buy a rifle for long range shooting. I may use the rifle for hunting too. I was initially leaning towards the Remington but saw some people say that there was some quality issues with Remington lately. So I am now stuck between the Remington and Winchester. Need advise. Which would you buy and why?
A question for anyone owning a Remington 770.? I bought one when I was looking for an inexpensive hunting rifle at Sportsman's Warehouse. The salesman recommended the 770 and it looked like a good buy to me. I had heard nothing about it at that time. After I got it home I noticed the bolt was binding at times. I sent it to Remington and had it repaired. It took about two weeks. It now works as fine as any bolt action rifle I have ever owned. Mine is in .308 caliber. It is very accurate and I have no complaints. Has anyone else had similar problems and what have you done about it. This rifle, for the money, does exactly what it is supposed to do. It can't compare to the 700 or more expensive guns. I am curious about other owners and their experiences. Thanks. Yup, I should have check around and known more about what i was buying. Can't disagree.
What is the california hunting law about letting a relative borrow your gun? best answer gets 10 points? I am a thirteen year old and I got my liecense over the summer. I would like to use my relatives (like my uncles and brother-in-laws) guns for hunting. I want to know all the laws for that. Also does the owner of the gun have to be with me when I am using their gun with their permission? Can my mom drop me off at the shooting range (already a member, I have been a member for about two years before I got my liecense)? Does he have to be a hunter two? can my mom just drop off me and a friend at the shooting range and shoot targets (like skeet. trap, etc.)? does one of our parents have to be their with us? do they have to be hunters (my dad is a hunter but not my mom, and he will not go to the shooting range anymore)? my dad will not buy me a gun, he says that I will have to borrow my uncles guns and my brother-in-laws guns or use his (the only ones I can use with out hurting myself is th .357 magnum, his .22 rifles (I hate .22 rifles), and his shotgun that is slightly to long and he said has some rust (it is a 12 guage, I can shoot 12 guages and 20 guage. my brother has a 20 guage youth and a 12 guage security shotgun. they both fit me perfectly). He has a 7mm remington mag., but even my faveorite uncle said the kick is to powerful so I will ether use one of his rifles (30.06 or 450 leveraction marlin) or use a rifle from mt other uncle (.243 winchester, he has others to). so please tell me the laws and also if you can, give me a website, please. best answer gets 10 points.
Remington 700 CDL vs Winchester Model 70 FeatherWeight ? What gun would you choose for your hunting rifle if it came down to these two.
Remington Model 700 Question? I have a Remington Model 700 that is chambered for .270 Winchester. Can I also shoot .270 WSM ammo with it? I would think not, but want to ask to be sure. I just got the gun from my father and have never shot it. I hope that it will be a good all around hunting rifle, but have read mixed reviews about the .270 Win vice .270 WSM ammo.
where can i find a Remington model 41 bolt ? I had a gunsmith re-blue the barrel on my old Remington model 41 and when i dropped it off it had everything and when i picked it up the barrel and receiver was re-blued but the bolt was missing and i asked him about it and he said it wasn't his problem so now i am missing my bolt and i need one soon for squirrel season (i just like to squirrel hunt with older rifles) and numerich gun parts is sold out right now so if anyone knows anywhere else to get a bolt for a Remington model 41 for under $100 i would greatly appreciate it. thanks i raised hell and threatened him but that didn't help all it did was get the cops to come to the shop. i guess i'll just use my new S&W mp15-22 . thanks guys
Where could I find a .270 remington for under $450? I'm looking for a good hunting rifle and I've found that this is the gun I want. I live in Currituck, NC which is on the border of NC/VA. There is plenty of shops that might have one but I was just wondering if there is a shop like bass pro shops or something where they come cheap. Thanks
Looking to buy a Hunting Rifle (Bolt Action, Cheaper)? So I'm looking to convince my dad into buying me a Bolt Action Rifle, and I need something that is cost-friendly and worthwhile. I Love Bolt Actions in general and that's why I'm choosing this. I am familiar with shooting guns, though i am looking for a cheaper end rifle which would probably be considered a "beginner rifle" in most cases I'm assuming. But anyway, some thing's ive considered for review: Remington 700, Remington 770, Savage 110 or another Savage model maybe? Winchesters looks nice. Otherwise I'm not too sure. I also want a decent scope as well, nothing too fancy and expensive for now though. So what do you think? looking for more expert and/or experienced advise please, Thanks. Oh, and primarily for target practice and deer hunting. Around the 500$ area preferably if not lower.
So I'm a new hunter and I'm looking into purchasing a hunting rifle? Don't get me wrong, I do have experience with fire arms it's just that I haven't ever owned a a rifle. I'm the proud owner of a Remington 870 12g shotgun, an M1A1 .30 cal carbine, and a .22 Mauser. I know how to handle a gun. I'm thinking that I will be hunting deer and boar. Obviously for the boar it would need to be a rather large chamber. For a new hunter, what would you recommend and about how much is the model that you suggest going to cost? Also, can you recommend any possible scopes that hopefully aren't too expensive? Thanks in advance. I've taken several hunter's safety courses and am an avid skeet shooter. My great-grandfather was a Brigadier General during WWII and brought both the Mauser and the M1A1 back from his tour in Europe. I didn't purchase them, I inherited them. If you're going to answer my question but be insulting in your answer, please just refrain from answering. Thanks anyway though. The scope I was considering more for deer hunting. I wasn't expecting to use it for hog/boar hunting.
Coyote hunting gun suggestions? I am looking for a varmint rifle that has a detachable box magazine. I would prefer a Remington over much of anything but am open to suggestions. Please help thank you
Big Game Hunting Rifle- STW? Hello, im just trying to learn a little about this gun because my best friend wants to buy one. Personally i wouldn't because i dont think it is very popular and will be staying. I shoot a 270. win and im buying a 300. wsm and both of these rifles i love. Is the 7mm STW any good?? Do you think it will be staying?? Is it better then the 7mm remington mag?? What do you suggest him to buy, he is really considering the 7mm stw?
Semi-Automatic Rifle's? I want to know the best semi-automatic hunting rifles on the market. I don't care about AK-47's or gun's like that. I want to know hunting rifles like the Remington 750 and Benelli R1. Top 10 Semi-Auto rifles and top 10 semi-auto shotguns .223, and any of the 30's (.308,300WM, 300WSM)
What ammo should i get for 8mm mauser? I just got a hand me down 8mm mauser from about 50-60s. It was not a war gun and looks like a regular hunting rifle. It has no marks that say which model it is but i know its an 8mm. it came with a box of Remington hunting bullets, but im looking for surplus target shooting rounds. should i buy the hungarian, german, turkish, etc surplus? I'm just looking for like 340 rounds for $80 or something like that so my friends and i can have fun. thanks THIS GUN IS SIMILAR TO MINE, A FEW COSMETICS, CHECKERING ETC ARE DIFFERENT. i KNOW MINE MUST BE AT LEAST 30-40 YEARS OLD AND ITS SERIAL NUMBER IS 2065. THANKS FOR THE HELP http://www.gunsamerica.com/922025817/Guns/Rifles/Mauser-Rifles/German/MAUSER_98_SPORTING_RIFLE_8X57_MAUSER_w_Hensoldt_Wetzlar_Scope.htm#
What is the most fun, all-around rifle for a beginner? I'm 18, live in florida, and i want to buy my first real rifle ( i have been shooting this air rifle for 5 years: http://www.airgundepot.com/crosman-airguns-remington-genesis.html ). I want an all around good gun that is simple for a beginner to pick up and, most importantly, fun to shoot. I want to get a rifle that will give me the experience that would allow me to at least pick up and handle other types of rifles/guns. Im not planning on hunting, but i wouldn't mind a gun with a little power/recoil. So far I like the steyr scout for its size, weight, and features, but im very open minded at this point. Any and all opinions are valued and welcomed. I like the recommendations so far but would it be a bad idea to go for a caliber larger then the .22 LR? Ive seen some vids of .22 rifles shooting and it looks more like my air rifle then a real rifle. Im not ruling it out im just curious about other calibers and types. Also would a 9mm pistol be too much for a beginner?
whats a good deer hunting rifle? iv done some research and came up with the remington .270 700 model..do you recommend this gun? do you have a better suggestion? iv also looked at some .30-.06 but people are saying its not worth it because a .270 can do the same and also has a flatter shot..?
New to hunting. Looking for target, sniper style rifle.? Hi, I'm new to hunting and am looking to buy a rifle. I don't know which rifle to buy and how to deck it out. I'm wanting a long range target rifle eg. sniper style rifle for both hunting and target shooting that can hit the 1000m range would be nice. I'm wanting to join a target rifle club so it would be nice to use my own rifle. I've only got a relatively small budget but still want quality and accuricy(if possible). I was told that the Remington M700 is a good start, If so which model would be the best eg. 700 USR, 700 PSS, 700 LTR and so on? I'm also unsure if you can have these guns on a longarm cat. A and B license? I was told that the HS Precision stocks were good, does anyone agree or disagree? Are there any Gunsmiths or good gun shops with this type of stuff in Melbourne where I'm based? Thanks in advance.
Where do I get contracts in the Middle East as a mercenary? I have recently stocked up on weapons and ammunition as well as welded extra sheet metal on the side of my Honda Civic because I have decided that I want to be a mercenary in the Middle East. So far I have a Remington .30-06 hunting rifle, a Colt .22 rifle, and a Beretta 9mm and i have stocked up on about 200 rounds of ammo for each. Also modded my car to be bullet proof as mentioned above. But my question is, where do i go in order to start getting contracts such as security contracts or Bounty contracts? I really want to do Bounty Contracts such as hunting down and capturing fugitive Al Queda leaders in Iraq or Afghanistan but being realistic, I am most likely going to get stuck doing security contracts for commercial contracters or government officials until I can make some money and start hiring some guns of my own and build a good reputation. What companies give out these contracts? Where do I go and how do I get in touch with them?
are these good guns ? I want to get a Remington 870 express 20 ga. shotgun. I want to know if I should get the 26" or 28" barrel for get basic skeet shooting and maybe a little water fowl hunting. Also what kind of loads should i get. I know Remington is trustworthy brand so i feel like it would be a good gun, if you have one please give me your feedback. Also i want to get a Mossberg 100 ATR scope combo rifle in .243, because it is fairly lite and the ammo isn't that expensive. would this be a good gun to hunt whitetails, bobcats, and hogs in south east texas. If you have either of these guns or have shot one please feel free to leave input or any ammo recomendations. i have also considered a .270 but i am 14 so recoil is an issue that is why i want the 20 guage
i don't know where my dads rifle is? my father passed away last February some short time after he purchased a new Remington rifle, i have the owners manual with proof of purchase stickers on back of manual, not sure if that would. i am assuming that he dropped it off at a shop or hunting/ gun store for work or a scope mount..... anyway, if he did leave it with a business, how can i go about locating it? i live in the Nevada area if that's relevant
Can you help me decide between a Remington 700 VLS .308 or a CDL in .30-06? I have been debating in my head what I want to use this gun for. I asked a previous question about what kind of rifle to get and the responses have led me to these 2 choices. I want to use this rifle for hunting and for long range target shooting (I probably won't be doing anything competitive) being as how thats the most fun I have shooting. I'm going to scope the rifle as well. The thing that bugs me is that the .30-06 is supposed to give you a bit more accuracy at longer ranges. But the heavier barrels of the 700 varmint guns are supposed to give you greater accuracy at range with the .308. That being said would one be better than the other or would the different barrel and different caliber even each other out at long ranges? I know the .308 and .30-06 are both great medium size hunting calibers so that doesn't really matter. I live in Northwest Arkansas so I do a lot of hunting in the Ozarks. Lots of woodland areas. Although when I do my target shooting I have some land that I shoot on that is just a flat field which is why I am looking for something that is versatile.
What hunting rifle brands have the best features? Explain your answers with wisdom not nonsense biased b.s.? I am looking to buy a rifle in the future and am trying to rule out different brands. What models have best features, like a easy operating safety. What action designs are better? Mid to big size game is the intent of the rifle i buy. I know a lot of people favor Remington but they aren't the only rifle maker there is. Most the people that like them seem to invest a lot of money in the gun to make it function better, like trigger jobs ,floating the barrel, glass bedding and whatever else. To me it seems a little silly to buy a gun and say its the best but it wouldn'tnt have been the best with out the extra gunsmithing. Caliber of interest is 300 win mag. My question isn't about caliber though. Experienced shooters should be the only people answering this question. Thanks
Hunters, If you could only have 4 guns for the rest of your life.. Which ones would you choose? If you were only allowed four guns to hunt with , which ones could you not live without? Any make or model, Shotguns, rifles, muzzle loaders or pistols in any combination. Me? I would have to choose a Ruger 10/22, Remington 870 Magnum Express 3 1/2 inch., Remington 700 series .270, and my absolute favorite.. a lever action Marlin 336 .35 Rem. ( Its like a 30-30 only bigger, 25 grain round) What about you? Typo- The .35 shoots a 225 grain round. There are no wrong answers, everyone gets a thumbs -up.
What the best scope for a Remington 700 .308? The rifle has a heavy barrel 26''. I don't want to spend more the $130 on a scope right now. Later I will get me a Leupold. And I would like the scope to be a Tactical Scope. If not a tact scope, tell me others. I will be deer hunting with the gun and alot of target shooting. The deer where I will be hunting are out about 100-400 yards.
Good Rifle for hunting diffrent game? My dad has a M1903 .30-06 for hunting, I currently have a 20 gauge Remington 870 with a smooth bore barrel. I would like a rifle in a common caliber with the following fetures -Low recoil -medium sized gun (im smaller framed) -somthing like a .243 or somthing similar -will be used for deer, varmint and possible pest control. (which is why i would like a smaller caliber then a .270) -bolt action -common model i.e-remington 700 -and somthing not to expensive even if it's new or used. any suggetions on model, scope w/ mounts, bullets to use etc.
new hunting rifle?? I just want a gun that is accurate and reliable, I dont want anything fancy. will I find what Im looking for with the remington 770 or do I need to shell out the extra cash for the 700??
remington model 600 rifle pricing range? my father has a model 600 rifle he uses when we go hunting. he was telling me a story about the gun one day at the hunting camp. to make a long story short it was stolen and recovered years later during a drug bust in orlando in the same condition it was in,brand new. when he got the rifle back from the police a guy offered him 2,000 dollars for it and this was back in the 70's so it already made the gun est. 10 years old. he denied the offer just because of the background of the rifle and the fact he only payed 78 dollars for it in the first place from his boss that didn't want it anymore. ive talked to some gun shop people and thay its a rare gun and in good shape can be worth alot. so any gun guys out there fermillair with this rifle can you tell me how much it would be worth nowaways? i like when i have rare stuff and want to make shure i take good care of it lol. thanks guys for your help so far! i see one guy is saying something about a .350 remington magnum. the model 600 rifle i own uses a .308 centerfire shell.
Which Rifle? Im looking to buy a new hunting rifle. Ive been doin research and know which caliber and narrowed it down to two guns. The Remington modle 700 buckmasters, And the Weatherby Vanguard synthetic package. Which do i get??
What rifle is better than a Remington 770 but similar in price? I have a remington 770 and want to sell it at a local gun shop and get another bolt action rifle of .30-06 or .308 caliber. What are some decent rifles that would be around my price range, new/used, with or w/out scope, doesnt matter. Just as long as you wouldnt hesitate to take it hunting The 770 I can probably get around $250 - $300 and I have an extra $200 to put with it
Is it illegal to hunt with the following weapons? -MG42. -Browning .30 Cal. -AK-47. -M16A4. -Springfield Sniper Rifle. -Remington 700. All semi-automatic by the way, and I don't own any of these guns I'm just wandering. Thanks.
Deer hunting with an AR-15 rifle? I am planning to go deer hunting this November. I have successfully completed and passed the Texas Hunter's Education Program. I am buying my Resident Hunter's License and Annual Public Hunting permit soon. I have also scheduled an annual hunting lease for $800 on a rancher's property 45 miles outside of Austin, Texas. I own several guns at home, I now have a Bushmaster AR-15, a Century Arms Galil rifle, a Bulgarian AK-47, a Rossi .38 special revolver, a Colt 1911 .45 pistol, and a 1895 Nagant revolver. The most accurate gun of my collection is my AR-15 and I enjoy taking it to the range every weekend. I spoke with the Game Warden and hunting with an AR-15 is legal here in the state of Texas. My rifle is equipped with a great telescope and bullet drop compensator and I also own a laser rangefinder to help me calculate the distance to my target. Some people say that an AR-15's .223 remington round can't kill a deer. Yet most of these critics, have never hunted deer with the .223 round or even tried it. A lot of the guys who hunt in this place where I booked my lease, are using AR-15's and only 2 of them have an AR-10. I spoke with them and they told me not to use the light 55 grain .223 round on deer. They recommended that I use the 64 grain soft point .223 round or the 77 grain soft point .223 round made by Sierra Matchking series. These heavier bullets delivered more foot lbs. of energy when they struck the deer, and a heavier .223 round is less likely to yaw and has greater penetration. But of course, I learned that there was a disadvantage. For maximum effectiveness against whitetails and mule deer, they recommended that I shoot at deer from less than 120 yards away, because the heavier bullet tends to lose velocity at a greater rate than the lighter 55 grain round. I am hunting from a deer stand that is at a 46 yard distance from an automatic corn feeder. If there is a .223 hunting load or make that you have used successfully to hunt deer, please tell me about it or please share your deer hunting experience with a .223 round.

Which is a better inexpensive rifle in a .243? a Remington 710 or a New England Firearms Handi-Rifle? It's going to be used as a varmint rifle and spare deer rifle for a couple of friends who hunt with me and don't own guns. Also, I need something that would be a good rifle for my niece to start with next year.
which gun is better to hunt deer with? all guns have rifled barrels ,mossberg 500 with a scope, remington 1100 with rifle sights, or a cva 50cal muzzleloader with a scope i already have all three of these guns
What will prairie dog hunting be like? I have never gone prairie dog hunting before, but in two months my relatives and i will be heading over to either South Dakota or Wyoming to hunt on an acquaintance's private property. I have a .17HMR with 36x44 BSA scope, and a .223Rem Tikka T3 with 6-24x44 Barska, that both will give me half-MOA accuracy at 100 yards. My uncle will use a new Ruger Mini-14, probably with a 12x scope. My cousin will probably go for a Remington Model 700 in .223Rem as well, so we probably will split some bulk .223 ammunition to use. I was wondering, what should i expect this to be like? What distance should i zero my guns at? How easily do the prairie dogs get scared off and go underground for a while? What is the overall experience like, how does the day usually play out? http://www.jgsales.com/product_info.php/ammo-for-rifles/223-rem-5-56mm-nato-/p/223-silver-bear-62gr-jhp-bi-metal%2C-500-rd-cases-/cPath/12_38/products_id/1721?osCsid=ecd801a9a4508c61b80dbb357d8afb5d Would that ammo work well? Will i need a rangefinder? Should i just get the cheapest one i can find, or are there any you would recommend? We would only probably use it one time for the whole group, this one trip, so i hate to spend $400 on it, could i rent one maybe? Or buy and resell one at a small loss?
What gun brand has the best deer hunting rifles? browning, remington, winchester, etc
How far could a Remington Vantage 1200 shoot? How far could the Remington vantage air rifle shoot while still being accurate? Its .177 and 1200 FPS without lead pellets and 1000 FPS with lead pellets. I ordered one recently and it will be arriving on christmas. I got premier ultra mag, round head pellets. im new to this gun stuff and this is my 1st pellet "gun". Could I hunt small game with it or not? Thanks Hey man thanks for the answer that was very helpful wow guys thanks for the really helpful answers. Im going to buy lighter pellets. What type would you suggest (domed, pointed, ect.)?
What type of rifle do you recommend for range shooting? I recently purchased my first gun, a .45 Springfield XD Tactical and now I am looking to buy a rifle. I don't plan to take it hunting. I was thinking about a Remington 700 in either .223 or .308 but I'm not sure. Any recommendations on either a caliber or model? I'm looking for the best combination of accuracy and affordability in both the caliber and rifle.
Which Remington Model 700? On Monday I am going to buy my first rifle for deer season. The gun store near me has a Remington 700 ADL in .30-06 caliber and a Remington 700 SPS in .308 caliber for a little more money. Both are brand new with black synthetic stocks. The ADL has a 22 inch barrel and the SPS I'm not sure but I think its the same, if anything longer. I was wondering if anyone could help me make a decision? Like, what are the advantages/ disadvantages of each caliber and/or rifle? Also, I am going to buy a Shepherd Scope with it, 3-10x40mm OR 6-18x40mm. Which would be better? I am going to be hunting in the woods of Pennsylvania if that helps, so not really any opportunities for long 1,000 yard shots. Thanks in advance for answering. Forgot to ask, What grain for .308? I know 180 grain is pretty standard for .30-06 in PA.
Remington 700 SPS .308 accuracy, recoil, cost? i decided to purchase a .308 rifle, mostly for target but some hunting, and i like the remington 700 sps. How much would this cost from a gun store? anyone who has this, what kind of out of the box groups do you get at 100 yards? 200? and how is the recoil if it comes with that recoil pad? compared to a remington 870 12 gauge shooting standard slugs or target shells? any recommendations on scopes, bipods, ammo would be great. thanks
I'm looking to purchase a rifle for deer hunting for my 9 yr old son. I'm a single mom so I need advice? My son is very scared of any gun "kicking" him. I personally have a 12 guage Remington 870 pump shotgun and love it (doesn't kick at all). I'm was and still am a bit of a Tom Boy (a trait I wish my son would have inherited). I'm only 112 lbs and 5' 3". I suggested to my sons dad that I was going to let him shoot my shotgun and he was appalled. He will only let him shoot a .22. Just recently let him shoot a .243 and insist that his doesn't need a more powerful rifle. Also my son is left handed and his dad purchased a bolt action for him. I'm not left handed but common sense is telling me a bolt action will be awkward for my son. So what type of action and what caliber would be appropriate for a 9 yr old that is not the roughest and toughest boy in the neighborhood. I certainly don't want to add to his fear of guns hurting him when he shoots.
which one Stevens 200, Mossberg 100Atr, Remington 770, or marlin XL7? Ok I am planing on buying a rifle (this will be my first gun) but I am stuck between 4 choices Stevens 200, Mossberg 100Atr, Remington 770, and marlin XL7 they are all very much the same in the same price range which one do you guys recommend? what caliber should I get for deer hunting? I am over 21.
Best rifle caliber to purchase for many different activities? I am looking to purchase a single rifle that can handle many activities. I am an amatuer marksman for fun, with my cheap savage .270 which is a beater at best, I can pop eggs at 200 yards without any problem with cheap federal factory loads. I feel that with practice and with the right equipment and handloads I could get to the 800, 1000 yard club and want a rifle that can do that, but I can also hunt with without disintegrating the animal, (yet can take down any game in this continent), that isn't obnoxiously heavy, and can shoot from any position without uncomfortable recoil. I am thinking the best choice considering all the options is a .300 win, maybe mostly Remington 700 action and frame, with a heavy free-floated barrel with the1/11.5 twist they put on their milspec guns, and maybe an adjustable stock with balanced weight, and probably wouldn't cost an obscene amount of money (<1.5K) Thoughts? EDIT: As far as recoil is concerned note that I am 180lbs at a 5'8 tall and in shape, martial artist and can take a punch. I've never fired a .300 win so I dont know how bad it is, but a .270 and 30-06 aren't much of a problem. The .300 isn't going to have as much as a .50 or .338 lapua unless its got a serious recoil reducer built into the action. Can anyone attest to performance of the .300 win? I hear you can get sub-moa at 1000 out with right equipment and ammo.
Does anyone know what the Queen will be wearing when she goes hunting in Hyde Park for the depradation hunt? It seems the Queen is going to try her luck at shooting a boar or puma on Monday during the special depredation hunt being held to rid Hyde Park of excessive boars and pumas. She will be shooting her new Remington .300 Savage bolt action rifle which was presented to her by her grandson, Prince Albert. Albert acquired the gun while visiting Missoula, Montana this summer. It was a gift from an exotic dancer he befriended at Fred's Bar where he went with his entourage for drinks and...ahem...entertainment. Does anyone know what the Queen will be wearing as she goes about to kill a puma or boar? Will she gut her own kill? Is the Queen fond of puma meat? I just wondered what outfit she will wear to go hunting.
Best bolt action for target and hunting .22lr? I am looking for a new rifle and was looking at the Remington model 5.Does anyone know anything about it. If not what other gun do you recommend. Can you also tell me if it come with sights and are they fully adjustible. If a CZ, what model. Thank you
Remington Model 700 .243 Win questions, can you help? My local Scheels has a new Remington Model 700 with heavy bull barrel (.75" outside diameter, black, not blued) and a black verson of the rubber-paneled stock found on their "VTR" triangle-barreled rifle, and in comparison this version is a minimum four inches longer than a .223 VTR (so considering the that one boasts a 22" barrel, given identical stocks i must assume this rifle i'm looking at has a 26" to 28" barrel) which skirts in at a new price tag of $525. It has the same X-Mark Pro Trigger, which is a big selling point for me. First question: Does this sound like a good deal for this rifle? It almost sounds too good to be true, like it should be $800 if i were to guess its retail. Second question: How loud is the .243 round? My uncle told me not to bring any guns much louder than a .223 prairie dog hunting, or else it would scare them all back underground. Third question: Is the bullet drop for .243 identical to .223? Some numbers i've seen suggest this. .243 Winchester, .223 Remington (5.56x28 NATO) being the round i'm comparing it to. I'm hoping it is nowhere near as loud as .308 or .30-06, that have tangible concussive waves coming from them. Regarding rust or damage, I have looked the gun over and it is definitely brand new, without any marks from scope mounts (a sure sign) as well as the original hang-tag information from Remington. The salesman at Scheels, who i have bought 6 guns from in the last two years, told me the gun came in to the store in late December, and that its current reorder price has risen to $575 since it is an uncommon barrel/stock combination.
What's a good, inexpensive bolt action rifle for a casual range shooter? Hi, I've never owned a gun before, but I used to shoot at my old camp with a Remington (don't know what kind). I'm looking for a reliable bolt action rifle, probably .22, for shooting ranges (I dont care how good they are for hunting). I'm hoping to spend $120 maximum, but the less, the better. Also, if you could provide a place to buy it, that would be very much appreciated. Thanks
Remington model 798? Anyone have this rifle or know anything about it? Looking to buy a new gun for deer hunting, is this a good choice? ( I live in Virginia)
Remington 7600 Carbine? Does anyone own one of these rifles? What have you killed with it? I ask this because it seems like it would be a fine little gun for tight quarters brush hunting.
How would the .308 round work for varmint hunting? For a while i was looking at getting a .243 to use for both varmint and deer, but the DPMS Panther chambered for it had a HORRIBLE trigger, and i even tried an "Upgraded" trigger model, which still was unacceptable for a 100yard+ precision rifle. So i'm back to looking at bolt-actions, and not finding what I like chambered for .243. So now I'm looking at .308 instead, because it is a very common round, that is very potent against deer, and the accuracy i hear allows for varmint hunting. In particular, I'm considering a Remington 700 VTR (triangular barrel) since it has the visual uniqueness appeal, as well as an awesome trigger (like my Tikka T3) chambered in .308. With the proper optics, will this gun work well for accuracy at 100-300 yards? Enough for prairie dogs? Is the .308 an appropriate round? I figure i'm saving enough money, to afford shooting $1.00 per shot, compared to $0.75 with the .243 AR15 costing twice as much. Is trajectory too curved compared to .223 or .243? The main reason i am not going with .223 is because that round is not legal to hunt deer with in Minnesota (.243 is minimum). Also, I already have a .223 Tikka T3, and don't want to own redundant weapons, such as two .223 bolt action rifles. So that's what leads me to .308 for varmints (my father will use my Tikka on our trip).
which gun is best for me? i am going on 14 .. i need a gun to go hunting this season.... was thinking of a goo gun like a Remington 870 Shotgun....because i dont think we can use rifles in Allgheny County...i live near millvale(right on top of it). i am going to be going hunting against med.-large game...mostly deer, and maybe a few birds or larger rabbits..but hardely ever. thank you for the answers on a right gun for me in my area.
question about remington 1100 ? i have a remington 1100 it says magnum reciever...i was trying to unload it manually and i was having problem unloading 3' shells(( manually by pulling the bolt back)) looks like the shell its 2 long for the ecjecting space while the 2-3/4 they eject just fine, and even fit better in the tube magazine ..both shells are 12 ga does this mean i am going to have problems with 3' shells and if i decide to stick with 2-3/4 is my gun going to eject this load knowing its a magnum reciever, i also wanted to knw i have 2 barrels one for bird hunt with a full choke one fully rifled whichi think its goin to be fine ejecting slugs (2-3/4) how is my other barrel going to work magnum full choke barrel
what kind of gun should i get for white tail hunting? i shoot a .260 bolt-action remington. I've shot every type of gun from a .243 to a 7mm. stw. i would really love to get a 7mm stw but they dont make those anymore. that gun would drop a deer from at leats 375 yards easily. i want a high powered rifle, because i like to watch the deer cut flips, and i hate tracking. i dont want a gun like a .270. yea i could get a 300 ultra mag and carry my 260 too. when he walks out about 300 yards away ill get the 300 and when he comes out any closer than that, ill get the 260 so i want blow the deer to pieces. lol unless i fork out 1600 dollars i cant get an 7mm stw and it aint nothing like the stw, you cant replace it
Need Help from turkey hunters!? This is my first turkey hunting year and I have a remington 870 with a fully rifled barrel can I still turkey hunt with that gun? Is it safe to shoot buckshots?
Ways to Reduce Noise from Rifle Stock? I use a Browning 7mm Remington Mag out in Colorado on elk hunts. It has a stainless steel barrel and a fiberglass stock. I get really upset when a branch or my binoculars hit the stock and make noise. I would imagine the glare off the barrel would alert wildlife of my presence as well. I want something to put on the barrel and stock that will reduce glare and noise. Whatever the product is, it needs to be lightweight, will not build up moisture between itself and the gun, and can be removed easily. Anyone know of a product that fits my description?
Help!! Which of these is a good centerfire bolt action rifle??? I'm new to firearms, but I do own high end air guns. I don't go hunting and never will, but I love shooting. I want to get a bolt action centerfire rifle. My price range is 300-700ish. The reason I want centerfire over rimfire is because recoil adds to the fun of shooting, I don't want tooomuch, but I don't a .22 due to the dearth of recoil. I looked up Ruger M77, CZ 550, remington , savage, etc online. What do you think will be the best option? They all look about the same appearance wise. I have a huge basement (30yds long), can you shoot ones of these in there given that you put 10 inch thick plywood as the target? I'm 23 years old, 5 11 and 150 pounds and I think I can handle moderate recoil w/o a problem. What's a good caliber? .243, .308, .270, .30-06? I want a rifle just to shoot for fun when I'm not busy with school and I love how bolt action wood stock rifles look, but I want it to be powerful as well so it's fun to shoot. Thanks!!!!
i need advice on a new gun? i am 14 and i already have 3 guns a marlin .22 http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/BoltAction22/981T.aspx a savage model 112 25-06 http://savagearms.com/112varminter.htm and a remmington 870 12guage http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/shotguns/model_870/model_870_wingmaster_100th_Anniversary.asp i do mostly bird hunting and deer coyote anything that i see so what gun should i get?? both my rifles have sscopes on them that are pretty dang good. i want a gun that is reliable inexpensive not over $450 and cheap ammo. i like leveractions.

I was wondering if you need a licence to own a rifle(for basic shooting range practice, say .22 rimfire)? If so, where would I have to go to get it? Any police station? internet? where? Please help. I always read hunting magazines(field & stream, remington, etc) and I would love to own a rifle, maybe become a gun club member. Any pointers? I reside in NY/Long island. Also, when buying a .22 rim fire rifle, or any hunting rifle for tha matter, bolt action or semi-auto? pluses, minuses, prefrences?
need to ask someone in either Army Infantry or Artillery a question? I told my recruiter that i wanted 13B but ive been giving it some thought. I REALLY suck at math, and i didnt really think about how Artillery is going to use alot of math for calculations on fire missions and stuff. And id just look retarded and get burned. Another thing is that ive been shooting guns and hunting since i was like 6 or 7, im a great shot with a bolt rifle altho ive only shot assalut rifles a few times only poped off a few rounds with a ak & m16. But i have a remington 700 in a .308 and load my own rounds and i can get a pretty good group and 650 yards. I couldnt even get a chance at sniper school with 13B could i? Do you think Infantry would be better for me? im kind of leaning towards infantry now.

Rifle or pistol? Im not really sure which I should get, a pistol because they're fun and I would just like to have one. I'm looking for a gun no more the $1000. I liked the FN FiveseveN and the berretta 9000. Or i would also like to get a rifle for hunting. I'm looking for something a little bit lower caliber than a .308, but still have a lot of power. I've been looking at the Remington 700 BDL, chambered in .270. How is the .270 caliber, by the way?
What rifle should I buy? what Ammunition is best? Im a 17 year old guy in Australia, love hunting, been shooting most of my life, joining the Army next year. So far ive made do with my .22 but im starting to need something bigger, I need something that can deliver enough punch 2 bring down something like a pig or a wild dog out at about 600 - 800 metres away. Im aiming to spend between $600 - $1200. I wanted to find out from someone experienced; -what would be the best cartridge to use, thinking maybe .308 or .223 (how much do these generally cost, and how well do they perform) - what rifle should I be looking for? ive heard good things about the remington 700, just wondering what peoples thoughts about that are, and how much its going to cost me. - im also looking to get a synthetic tactical stock fitted for my gun, thinking about a "wild dog" tactical stock, just wondering if there are any other good ones out there, and if anyone knows whether i can buy the rifle prefitted with the stock i want, or will i have to add it later? Im the only one in my family who hunts, nd none of my mates r into it, so yeah the internets really my best source of info
which gun is right for me? i am turning 14 in 5 months....i am going to be going hunting and need a gun. i havent really decided on a rifle or shotgun. i am probably going to go with a shotgun, since you cant use rifles in Allegheny County (i think..not sure). but anyways i need a good shotgun...i need the right gauge for me either 12,16,20 i can handle the kick...so that aint a problem...i was thinking about a Remington 870.. but not sure if i am making the right decision...please give me some answers. and if u can add a link and let me know where a close gunshop is with good weapons in it is located at.... i live in Shaler...so it would be nice if it was close. but i really need to know this stuff..especially where a good shop is or retail store is (walmart,kmart,target,others)...thanks
Has anyone shot a Savage 111 in either .270 or 30-06? I've decided to buy this (instead of the Remington 710) as my first rifle because I can get it NEW for a pretty good price ($380) I searched around and can't get it any cheaper. I thought I wanted a .270, but the sales guy now has me leaning towards a 30-06 because of the versatilities of grains in the ammo. Has anyone compared the recoil of the two guns? I'm looking to use this for deer hunting in northern wisconsin. I'll be in mostly woods, with a little field shooting. I probably wont have many shots over 150 yards. Anyone have any tips on which one I should buy? Thanks. http://www.lipseys.com/itemdetail.aspx?itemno=SV111FCXP33006
General Info? Hello everybody! Currently, i'm a "newbie" at hunting, as no one before my generation has ever done it within my family line. Thats why i'm here, to ask some basic questions before I start a family tradition! 1. Ive heard good things about Tikkas, and am deciding between either a Tikka T3 Lite, or Tactical. But do I have to be in the law enforcement to purchase a tactical? However, the Remington 700 looks good too. 2. Ive narrowed the calibers for the rifle down to .308 or .30-06, remember, I want to use this as a general purpose gun (some hunting, some target shooting, and some fun :D). Thanks, and good night everybody!
Getting a new set of firearms ? I worked all summer last year and all summer this year and throught out the last couple months aswell. Im 16 years old and me and my dad are going out to get me a couple guns to hunt with. I need 1 varmint cartride, 1 medium game and 1 big game cartrige. 1.) I have hunted before with the 22-250 and i loved it i got 2 coyotes. But i dont know what model to get it in. I was thinking of getting it in the Browning A-Bolt Varmint Stalker, or the Remington Model 700 SPS Stainles. 2.) Medium sized game cartridge- My dad owns a 270. win and i have hunted with it as well. I have never shot a deer or evan shot at a deer but i have got 1 coyote and 1 moose with it. I am thinking of getting it in the Browning A-Bolt Medallion because i love this rifle, or the Winchester Model 70 Sporter Deluxe. 3.big game rifle- I hunt moose alot with my dad and i think i wanted a bigger gun then the 270. win. And i was thinking about the 300 wsm. I want it in the Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker. What do you think of my Choise in calibres and models? Is there a different model i should get? how is the recoil for the 300. wsm compared to the 270. win. The biggest gun i shot would be the 7mm mag or 30-06

30.06 gun question:? I am going to buy a Remington 30.06 700 rifle new at Wal-Mart tommorow. How does this gun handle compared to other simular types (7mm, .270, ect.) and what are some bad things about it and explain some of the advantages it has over other types of rifles. This is for hunting deer, hog, elk, bear, and some other HUGE game. Thats why Im getting a bigger rifle. Also, what are some exact names of other simular rifles you would reccomend and why. Thanks!
