What is needed to legally hunt deer in virginia?

I would like to get into deer hunting. I live in virginia and would like to know how to find a place to legally harvest deer with a rifle and what lisence i need? Do i need to enter in a lottery to be able to hunt? if so that kind of sucks. There is a WMA forest in prince william county I am trying to hunt in.
